该项目旨在使学生了解汉语的本质及其在学术和专业上的用途；扩大学生对中国文化对学术和专业目的的影响和意义的视野；使学生熟悉中国的文学传统及其在现代社会中的应用；使学生能够利用从课程中获得的对汉语和文学的深入了解进行教育，并准备使用普通话教授汉语科目；满足香港公营和私营部门对中文专业写作能力日益提高的需求。
